Community Investment
Community Investment is all about organisations getting involved
in the communities they work in to make positive improvements to
their economic, social and environmental wellbeing.
UFD supports the development of sustainable communities vital to
improve employment opportunities, education, the environment and
quality of life for now and generations to come.

On a practical level this means UFD staff going into local schools
as reading buddies, helping children soon to leave education by
conducting mock interviews and providing work experience
opportunities for children in their last year of compulsory
education. Staff regularly organise collection of goods to donate
to charity and a number participate in mentoring schemes through
Business in the Community and The Prince’s Trust.
But it’s not just the wider community we care about, we also
provide fulfilling roles for our people and support them through
job-related training and continuing professional development. As
part of their personal development all employees are given two
days paid leave per annum to do voluntary work in the local
community.
UFD is proud
to hold the Investors in People award and are working towards
gaining recognition under ISO14001:2004 for our environmental
management system.
